A company can request a tailor-made Workplace and Business English training courses for their staff with funding for up to 50% of the training costs, subject to a maximum of HK$3,000 per employee.

How can one apply for this scheme?

The application process is very easy, and we will assist with all paperwork. A company is required to submit: a signed application form, a copy of their business registration certificate, one employment letter for their staff attending the course, and copies of their staff's HKID Cards.

Do the staff members’ need to take an examination after the course?

Yes, I’m afraid so. After the course, all staff are required to take a recognised Business English examination to check if they have attained their benchmark levels for reimbursement of fees. We recommend the BULATS Tests as they are very practical and widely recognised.

What happens if a member of staff fails to attain his/her benchmark level?

The Funding Scheme will not provide reimbursement for that member of staff's training or testing fees. However, the staff member does have a period of 12 months from the start of his/her initial training to take further studies (unfunded) to try to attain his/her benchmark level and retake the test.
