MYOB Course Outline - Advanced

Objective:
To give participants the ability to become proficient in MYOB and be able to take full advantage of the more advanced features of MYOB.

Participants:
This course is suitable for those who have completed the Introductory training course or who have been using MYOB for a while but have not really been able to get the full use out of their software.  Participant numbers are restricted to four to ensure personal attention from the trainer.

Structure:
PC for every participant.
This is a fully hands-on 1 day course.   A large amount of individual attention is provided. This course is essential to get the most out of MYOB.

Language:
The course is conducted in English and includes detailed study notes.

Duration: 6 hours     

Course times: 

  • Full day (9.30 to 4.30) or two consecutive evenings (6.30 to 9.30)

Fee: $3200 per participant  ( A combined package of Introductory and the Advanced course is $6000)

Gary is a qualified accountant and a registered teacher. Gary has been teaching MYOB Accounting software for over 10 years.

Course Details:

  • Customizing Forms:- You can change the size of text and location of information, include pictures, logos and remittance slips and lots more in your MYOB invoice.  Learn the difference between text fields, data fields, picture boxes, rectangles and lines.
  • Reporting:- Choose the report you want, select different search criteria, change the appearance of your report, decide which fields you want to see, run a batch of select reports and print them all in one go.
  • MYOB Analyst:- View reports with extra information and graphs, choose the months you want information for and lots more quick and yet very handy reports.
  • Preferences and To-do list:- Password protect your data file using Master and Sub passwords, let certain people access only certain parts of your accounting system,  keep a track of important matters that need attending to using the To-do list for AR and AP, use recurring sales and transactions, and even contact alerts.
  • General Ledger:- Accruals vs Cash accounting, double entry accounting, explaining the chart of accounts, purpose of the general ledger, when to use the general journal functions, budgets and more.
  •  Importing and Exporting:- Export client details for use in a personalized mail out, or import data from other sources, move data between various programs like Word, Excel and Winfax, learn about data formats, (tab delaminated, header records etc), exporting information to spreadsheets, using the MS Office link, Word templates (will require intermediate skills in Word or Excel).
  • Time Billing:- learn when and how to use the time billing function of MYOB.
  • Advanced Inventory:- You can use inventory to track services, auto build.  This section includes a comprehensive tutorial exercise and explanation.
  • Job management:- track income and expenses for a particular job, create jobs, set budgets for jobs, transactions and job tracking.
  • Multiple currencies:- overview of how MYOB multiple currency functions work.
  • Month and Year-end Tasks:- Monthly and yearly tasks including accruals, reversing entries, closing entries and others.  Including what is needed for the auditor.

Individual training and consultancy for MYOB can be provided either at your own premises or ITS: half day $4000, one day $7000.
