I am an IB Examiner and are in the process of marking IB exams at the moment while trying to work on the website as well. Just thought I would make some general comments on marking IB exams. Firstly I have done this a few times now. It is a very interesting and tedious experience. I mark IB economics papers, I am marking papers from seventeen different schools located from all over the world.

The reason that it is interesting is that as a teacher you get to see the many different ways the same topic is taught. I find I am always learning new things when I mark the exam papers. I have just discovered a completely new way to tech aggregate demand and aggregate supply to students. The use of different examples when students are supporting their arguments are also very interesting. One question I have just marked was in relation to health care and Government provision of it. The examples from totally provided by the government and good to totally provided by the government and poor to very little in the way of government provision of health care are an eye opener.

But marking exam papers is tedious. The level of written material is just very poor. The top level papers are also not very good. Students cannot write much in the ways of interesting and in depth answers in the limited time they get to do this in an exam.

I have enjoyed the learning I am getting from being and examiner but every year i think that this will be the last time!
